Blogging For Starters

I’ve been asked to submit an extremely short piece into a magazine with some basic strategies for beginner bloggers which I thought I’d share here. They usually are not Rocket Science – pretty basic – but a superb starting point for someone venturing out in Blogging.

Keep it easy: Start with a free and simple to use blogging tool like Blogger. Choose a simple design and just begin writing. You can tweak the structure and make it look very good later.

Write for yourself: It takes time period for others to locate and read your blog so utilize it as a space to think out loud about the things which interest you. Pick topics that you're passionate about and you’ll find individuals with similar interests will connect along with you.

Interact with your readers: Make certain your blog has a commenting attribute – when someone leaves any comment email them or leave an answer comment. People will come back if you take time to acknowledge and interact with these people.

Set boundaries and think about the intention of your blog: Remember what you are writing is within a public domain so you might like to refrain from talking about your individual life – people WILL find it. Decide up front about what will you and won’t write about and stay with it.

Read other blogs and connect to those that interest you: One of the better things about blogging is exactly how it connects people thinking via similar issues. Link to these people, add your own ideas, leave comments on their blog – blogging can result in rich and wonderful conversations and bring about lasting friendships.

Be patient, post regularly and also have fun: It can take a very long time to build up a readership. In the mean time just take pleasure in the writing process. Make it an everyday exercise (it takes some discipline) and don’t quit if it seems no-one is reading – just be yourself and also have fun.

What tips would you add for a starters?
